Seasons May Change…

Winter to Spring, but I love you. Come what May! Everyone sing it with me… orrrrr don’t.

So our season has changed. I feel like change is inevitable in my life. Why is that? Who knows… something is ALWAYS literally changing. I take it as God playing with my strings and I’m just following along. 🙂

When I last left you I think it was the beginning of the year last year… well since then we have moved further south Texas. We no longer have a beautiful piece of land or a old little farm house. Due to a WONDERFUL opportunity we have become city slickers again, hopefully not for long. Just while we find somewhere to rest our little souls for the rest of our life.. I hope…

We are also working hard on our budget. We have been SO blessed in our life even with some of the bad that we have experienced there seems to be SO much more good. so there is NO reason why we can’t make that better and get ahead you know? Especially since we would like to buy some land and plant our roots, for eva eva? FOR EVA EVA.

SO in the meantime, I’m keeping my little self busy by running and trying to live a healthier life. I’ve been jog/running for a couple weeks if not a month by now and I went from being able to barely do 2 miles to just running my first 4 mile run on Sunday.. in the rain. It was awesome… hahahahahaha. I know right? but it really did feel good to jog in the rain and complete something I never thought I was capable of. I’m still doing my crafts but because I don’t sell publicly I just make fun things for friends, family, or for my kids, I don’t post about it usually. Its easier that way and less controversial in my opinion.

I did my first 5k as a jogger on 1/26/19! It was a my daughter’s school fun run and it was a lot harder than I thought it would be, but it seemed to motivate me to keep chugging a long. I have another 5k next Weekend, which I’m hoping I beat my 39 min 1st 5k timing. Then on March 2nd I have a 10K *que drama music*.  I’m currently doing the Jeff Galloway method, but I’m doing the Marathon training program. I’m really hoping to go to the Wine and Dine 10k and half during November. That’s my eye on the prize and what I’m striving and saving money for. *fingers crossed*

and that’s it, all caught up. That was fun wasn’t it? Y’all have a blessed day!

Good Morning! It is 5:32am and both girls are still sleeping, so I’m having some quiet time and planning our 1 meal this week (Deer Chili – Thank you, POP!). Also, getting ready for our 3rd Christmas/New Year celebration. I’m making The Pioneer Woman’s Merc Queso! It’s from her new cookbook, Come and Get It! I’ve made a couple of recipes out of this book and once again have yet to be disappointed. I just adore her and I want to be her when I grow up… obsessed… nahhh.. maybe? It goes about as deep as my Miranda Lambert obsession. However, I have yet to meet the infamous Ree Drummond. I almost drove to Dallas one day just to do that but you know kids and priorities… *eyeroll* lol.

Since the New Year is approaching at a rapid speed, I should add. I wanted to express my view on word new. When you say, “Happy New Year”, it’s a meaning of it’s a new year and new start. How amazing is it that we have this to look forward to when our year wasn’t the best or just looking forward to creating or trying to make a better you? What if I told you that we have this opportunity with God everyday, we don’t have to wait until the “New Year” to become new and make a better us! I’m so thankful for all of his blessings and man, has he been here for us this year. Just when you think the worst is about to happen there is that “door” that opens up. ALL Glory to him, because seriously, stuff like this doesn’t just happen. Go to a quiet church (this is why I converted to Catholicism because of the quietness and traditions of the church, it’s not about socializing or condemning you to hell… it’s just you and him. Sorry, if you disagree just a personal opinion and side note.) and just soak it up and I promise you WILL feel something and that something is him telling you I’ve got you, do not be afraid. It’s an amazing feeling friends and it gives me chills thinking about it. 💗

New to me is exciting, fresh, and sometimes scary. Don’t get me wrong old is probably my favorite because it’s always been there and you never have to wonder if it will go away. It’s there and has been there, which is the ultimate comfort. Can you tell I have commitment issues? (Thanks, DD 😒) We have some more big changes ahead of us this year. Wade started a new job and if all goes well at his new job it looks like we could be moving again… which literally makes me sick at my stomach thinking about it. SO I’m not going to talk about it right now at least… AVOIDANCE at it’s finest.

ANYWAY- I was going to talk about our new family but they aren’t really new, they were just “lost”. Some of you know that my husband was adopted by his WONDERFUL parents and when he says he hit the jackpot of parents, he really did. They are amazing and will always be his mom and dad and frankly, I look up to them a lot because they are still married and raised 2 wonderful boys who made wonderful husbands and dads. However, I think there is always this where do I come from sentiment in an adopted child. Back in 2014-2015 we started watching a show called Long Lost Family. Wade and I hadn’t really ever talked about him being adopted but as I was boo hooing over some of these stories, I looked at him and said, “Wouldn’t you want to know?” and he replied, “I would like to thank her for giving me life and find out health information for the girls”. We talked to his parents about it and they gave us all the information they had and after applying to the registry, (Texas) they told us that there hadn’t been a mutual request and we could petition the courts for the file to be opened but we would need a lawyer.
Well the year passed and around January of 2017 we purchased some DNA kits from Ancestry and in April when we finally got the results back, Wade had a 1st cousin match which led us after some digging and Facebook stalking to his biological Dad! Which eventually led us to his biological Mom. Wade and I had talked about how this could be a really bad and I wanted him to be prepared for the worst. It turns out, he couldn’t have had a better outcome. After we met both BD and BM they threw Wade a ’40 years of missed birthdays’ party and we met cousins and close family friends of the family. It was amazing at how well we “fit in” and how accepting of us everyone was. To be rejected by my own father and then be accepted by this family is such an/a amazing BLESSING to me. It is all still so exciting and we are enjoying getting to know them and spend time with them to make up for the lost time. I get super emotional thinking about it because it is at times overwhelming how blessed we are and how we are the characters in this story that God is writing. I’m looking forward 2018 and all the adventures it will entail. Maybe, I’ll talk about some New Year’s resolutions next. OH BOY! lol

Quick Update.

As I realize I just invited ALL of my Facebook friends and family to like my page, which will then in turn bring them here. [Hey y’all] I realize I left my blog with a sappy post. I’ll blame that on hormones.. yes, a year after giving birth… *eyeroll*. Things in our life have changed… like YUGE changed. We have met long lost family members and have been traveling fools. I’ll update y’all on everything a little later. Maybe once Christmas is over and all that jazz. Things are great, in fact.. LIFE IS GOOD. SO Thankful and blessed for this life we are living.

Moving On… ward.

We are finally just about all settled in to our new little home in the country. Oh? You didn’t know we moved? haha We did.

Our house had been on the market for almost a year. We had told our realtor that we were going to take a break once our contract was up (they were not very good and it was our polite way of saying we are going to try someone else). Well, literally, not even a week before our contract was over we magically had an offer. We had, had previous offers but they were offering WAY less. This offer was exactly what we were asking for so we of course took it and we closed on Friday June 30th.

While we LOVED the look of our house, we didn’t enjoy the city and all that comes along with it… HOAs, the ridiculous property tax, and having neighbors be able to look through your window because you live SO close. The property tax increased our mortgage payment to something we just were not comfortable with, so thankfully and FINALLY the house is sold and we are moving onward.

The difference between moving on and onward is that moving on is just letting it go and moving on. Onward to me is more moving on and looking forward to all the new adventures and what life is going to bring at us for now. What fun would life be if it were the same old comfortable setting everyday. While I do long for it, I know that is just not the case in life. We are given challenges and we either must just let them become us or accept them, defeat them, and learn from them.

Enough with the pep talk… it’s for myself anyway. 😉

Our summer has consisted mainly of moving, going to the local swimming pool, and doing NOTHING that was planned. I had planned this whole summer packet for my oldest and have we done any of it? Multiplication flash cards here and there, but no, not any of it. I’m okay with it. It’s summer and we are figuring it all out.

Jamie will be one in 8 days!!! 8 days my little baby will be a whole year old, it is crazy and I just can’t believe it. Her birthday will be totally different than Jaeden’s. Jaeden was surrounded by friends and family, we bought all the banners and balloons and with Jamie it will just be us, a couple of balloons, and cupcakes. Which is fine too. I’ve learned that going “all out” isn’t what it is cracked up to be. We are going for a more simple life and be happy with the things we have. I am planning on making cupcakes and that will be her smash cake. I like the tradition of making a cake for birthdays. Mine were always bought, not that there is anything wrong with a bought cake. I just like the idea of mom making the cake.

There’s that “pep talk” again… I’m going…. bye. 🤣

Sorry for such a long post, just wanted to update. Have a great day!

Weekends that are good for the soul…

Hello! I’m back from a great and restful lent! I took a little while longer to come back to social media. It was such a good and restful time spent with my family and working on myself including the main man upstairs. Good times.

You ever have those weekends where you get so much done that you feel good? It has been one of those weekends. I feel refreshed and purposeful. I crafted my little heart out this weekend… and it was SO nice. I made our Mother’s Day gifts on Saturday and Sunday made some goodies for all of us girls. Little sister is finally on a schedule with her naps and bedtime in her own crib. While I miss those snuggles sometimes, it is nice to be able to sleep greater than 6 hours at night!

I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned that Wade (my husband) is in college. Yes, I’m a stay at home mom and he works full time and is taking 2 college courses. He is trying to better our futures by being able to get a better job. How blessed am I with such a good man that will do whatever it takes for us? So so thankful and lucky to have such a wonderful best friend and husband. Anyway, my point with all that is that he tries to do homework during the weekend and I’m trying to keep busy so that he can focus. Sometimes it’s not that easy because I can talk his ear off but he never complains. I was definitely out of his hair this weekend though! 😂

While I can’t post Mother’s Day gifts yet, because I’m pretty sure my mom follows my blog.. I see you! 😉 I will post what I made for myself and the sisters.

So the top picture is matching shirts that I made for myself and Jae. The bottom right picture is a cute little top and bottom separates that needed a little something on the pocket, and bottom left is a plain ole swim top that needed something to match little sister’s bathing suit. I’m still LOVING this Silhouette Cameo but I’m really wanting to get better at sewing. I’ve got teacher appreciation week all planned out and I will hopefully start on those tomorrow then maybe Betty (sewing machine… hee hee) and I can get some one on one time. Until next time…

No Soliciting!

We had such a busy weekend this weekend. Sometimes those are good to be so caught up and no down time. Other times however, it is nice to have lazy weekends. We had parent teacher conferences for my oldest daughter on Friday and she seems to be doing great, except her handwriting. We have to work on that. Pinterest to the rescue! 🙂

On Friday, I also finished my No Soliciting sign for my plant on our porch, and yes, so far the new plants are still doing great. Today was watering day! Anyway- I really need to work on centering my projects. This one runs down, I get super excited and just want to stick it on. I also didn’t measure right but I was not about to waste that vinyl so I ended up cutting each letter that way I could place them closer together. If you care at all how I made it, keep on reading!

  • I first bought a wood sign at Wal-mart and spray painted it black.
  • Then we bought some gardening stakes from Lowes and I put liquid nails on the back of the stake and lined it up with the center of my board.

  • I designed my signage in Silhouette Studio and printed it out on white vinyl. I wanted contrasting colors so people can see it.

  • Placed vinyl and stuck it in my plant. VOILA!
On an extra side note. I received my February Swagbag in the mail today. It’s this super cute (and comfy) pink tee with my initials and I. Love. It. February is almost over but this will be a cute summer top or even sleeping shirt. I haven’t been the happiest about this companies shipping but you cannot beat a monogrammed piece of clothing for 14$ and that includes shipping…
 Goodnight and Sleep tight.😴😴😴😴😴

Though She be but Little…

She is Fierce
– Shakespeare

I was bound and determined to eventually one day get a cameo. The main thing I wanted to make were shirts. I had already had Silhouette studio downloaded and even BOUGHT some things… I even made some pumpkin shirts and printed them on some iron on transfer paper. They did not even make it through the wash… I thought and used it as a buying vice for my husband, if I can just make shirts we won’t have to buy any. They are exactly how you want them and come on… I like being crafty and creative. How much fun would it be?!

When I bought the heat press on Amazon there was a little package deal like they always have at the bottom and you could get some Teflon sheets and 3 sheets of Siser Easyweed for like 20$ bucks more so I figured I would for sure need the Teflon sheets and thought what a great bonus for HTV. I was so nervous to use the heat press that I just got started on this onesie last night. It was SO easy. I’m so ready for my larger order of HTV to come in so I can make more. St. Patricks day is coming up and man oh man I already have all these cute things in mind. 🙂

This SVG file was one of the first that I found (I think on Pinterest looking for ‘free SVG’). I opened it in Silhouette Studio and I also did my little ones initials… Full intent of putting the initials on the front with this saying on the back and I didn’t mirror her initials… bummer. I wasn’t going to waste my perfect opportunity with this scary heat press clicking ever so often to keep it’s temperature up. I started weeding and it was so easy.. duh Easyweed! 🙂

I then took the onesie and pressed it a couple of seconds to get the excess moisture out and flatten it. Then grabbed my vinyl and centered it. Thanks to Silhouette School I downloaded the Siser app and it told me exactly the heat settings and time I should press for. Temp was 305 and to press for 10-15 seconds with medium pressure. Worked like a charm. I peeled the transfer paper off and voila! A super cute new onesie for my little love bug. It wasn’t finished yet though. I flipped it inside out and pressed again just to make sure that it had adhered.
So after all that, and realizing how EASY it was I cannot wait to do it again. I have all these fun and cute ideas. I’ve ordered some green raglan shirts from Jiffy Shirts and they have already shipped and should be here today. I ordered them about 2 days ago. Super impressed. I’m almost done with my No Soliciting flower pot sign too. 🙂
